Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis of the underarms, or excessive underarm sweating, is a common disorder that features more sweating than needed to cool down the body. Hyperhidrosis can be caused by a variety of things, such as neurological and endocrine disorders, infection or other systemic diseases, however, most cases are seen in completely healthy individuals. Changes in temperature or mood can also cause hyperhidrosis.

Excessive sweating can destroy confidence. Not only does it stain clothes, but it can also get in the way of your personal and working life. In severe cases, hyperhidrosis can even impact on daily tasks such as holding a steering wheel, shaking hands and holding pens. While the causes of hyperhidrosis are not fully understood, there are effective treatments that reduce excessive sweating. Traditional hyperhidrosis treatments were ineffective or short-acting.  However, at Hedox Clinic, we have an excellent solution to treating it that is quick and pain-free – safe toxin injections.

Toxin injections provides long-lasting relief from excessive sweating by relaxing the activity of nerves that activate the sweat glands, and 80-95% of patients respond to just one session. To see if this treatment is for you, please book in to see Dr Stephen Humble, Consultant in Aesthetic Medicine, who can design a personalised treatment plan to put an end to any sweat-related concerns.  Dr Humble has been working with this toxin for many years, as it is also routinely also used as a treatment in his practice for treating muscular pain and migraine.

The toxin works by blocking the chemical within the nerves so that it can't impact the glands or the muscles.  In the case of the sweat glands, it turns them OFF, thereby reducing sweating.
