Have you been struggling with back pain, a ‘slipped disc’, sciatica, or severe neck pain? Maybe you’ve seen countless physios, chiropractors, osteos or even surgeons, but you’ve still not found anyone who can help? Everyday I meet people like yourself, and I completely understand how distressing this can be and how much of an impact this can have on your life.
I help patients who are in pain, and many have had pain for years. I am passionate about helping people get on top of their pain, before it becomes a long-term problem, so that they can get back to their work, sport, and enjoying a good quality of life. My aim is to help patients avoid invasive surgery, and all the risks associated with it. My approach means that many of the procedures have very little down time (none of them routinely require an overnight stay). I’ve acquired my skills over many years, and have successfully treated thousands of patients.
In addition to being Medical Director of the LIC, I’m a Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Charing Cross Hospital and St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust London. I qualified in Medicine at the University of Aberdeen in 2000 and I did my post-graduate training in the UK and Australia. I completed a MSc at the University of Edinburgh in 2010 and undertook a PhD in Neuroscience in 2012. My special area of interest is in Interventional Spinal Medicine (which means I help patients with injection treatments, as well as ‘whole person’ treatments including medications and exercise). I’ve performed thousands of epidurals and other spinal injections over the last 16 years or so.
I’ve been featured on the BBC1 Programme ‘Health: Truth or Scare’ and I’ve published numerous medical and scientific papers in high-level journals and have spoken at many conferences and meetings. I’m one of a few specialist doctors who treats patients using radiofrequency therapy, Racz treatment, and capsaicin 179mg patch therapy for painful peripheral neuropathy. I’m registered with all the main insurance companies (such as BUPA, AXAPPP, WPA and Cigna).
We understand what it’s like to live with pain, and it’s our aim to help patients like yourself, with impactful, effective but minimally invasive treatments.
We are personable and approachable, and we understand that living with pain can be exhausting, both emotionally and physically.
