What is the difference between Profhilo and fillers?
Lots of people ask us what is the difference between Profhilo and fillers? Profhilo is a stabilised form of ultra-pure hyaluronic acid that is injected beneath the skin at multiple points. Profhilo, like fillers is an injectable treatment, but it does not volumise the skin like a filler. The hyaluronic acid stimulates the cells to promote more of the naturally occurring collagen, creating a plumping effect and causing the tissue to hold itself and to prevent sagging.
Dermal fillers are used to add fullness and contours to an area that has lost volume and the results are localised to the exact area the filler is injected into, commonly the under-eyes, cheeks, lips mouth or jawline.
Profhilo is injected across the treatment site, the whole face for example (it is also a great treatment for hands and knees) and the hyaluronic acid disperses evenly throughout the skin, so the effects are visible throughout your whole face, giving a much more overall, anti-ageing result. Compared to fillers that work to define or enhance the area that has lost volume.
Another difference between Profhilo and fillers is that Profhilo is a two-stage treatment, four weeks apart. The full impact of the two treatments will be most obvious after around 8 weeks, with lifted, tighter looking skin in better health, however improvements can be seen following the first treatment. Profhilo continues to work long after the treatment, because it stimulates the production of elastin and collagen in your own body, encouraging improved firmness and laxity. This is compared to fillers, which just requires one sitting and offers instantaneous results in the treated area.
Profhilo is considered to be an excellent entry-level injectable treatment, for someone looking for anti-ageing benefits from their tweakments with natural, yet noticeable results. It is perfect for someone looking to improve their overall skin quality, plump up the skin and tighten up their deeper skin tissue for a healthy glow.
Dermal fillers, are also an excellent way to subtly achieve changes and get that youthful look, the key is to ensure you are treated by an experienced, aesthetic practitioner and that you discuss your requirements with your doctor. Fillers are better suited for people desiring a change in one specific area of their face, rather than the overall skin appearance. However, it is amazing how subtle filler to the under-eyes, cheeks or lips can make such an impact to your overall appearance.
So, although they are both injectable treatments, there is a big difference between Profhilo and fillers. If you are still unsure which is the best treatment for you, drop us a message and we can organise a remote call with Dr Humble before booking you in.
Can I have Profhilo® with Botox and dermal fillers?
Profhilo is the perfect complementary treatment to anti-wrinkle injections which smooth out dynamic lines, and dermal fillers which replace lost volume, by creating a plumping effect throughout the entire dermis of the face. Think of Profhilo as being the hydrating treatment that underpins all your other injectable procedures and makes you look even fresher and more youthful. In fact, it makes an excellent accompaniment to have on the same day as anti-wrinkle or filler treatments.
We are currently offering the first 10 clients to book in for the Profhilo® treatment in Harley Street or Twickenham a heavily discounted price of £500 for both treatments (instead of £690), in conjunction with use of their before and after photos (anonymised as required).
